Trend Watch by Janet Fitch
As the last autumn leaves fall and winter approaches, the mellow colours of autumn are echoed in the soft tones of this season’s fashion and jewellery.
My discovery of the month is SVP Jewellery, a brand that is not only beautiful, but is collectible, multi-wear, designed and prototyped in the UK and hand-crafted in India, working with suppliers committed to an ethical supply chain and fair pay. Founded by Sarah Parham, ‘the Jewellery Innovator’ as she describes herself, left a successful career in advertising to create jewellery with the ethos of ‘change is beautiful’.
Each collection can be worn in many ways – the Bonbon rings are engineered to be adjustable, and there are three stone sizes, set in 18ct gold vermeil over silver. There are 20 classic oval shaped stones, in sparkling colours, like old fashioned sweets. The latest Sherbet Pip collection uses nine favourite gemstones that can be changed at will. The wearer can slide on lots of pip charms or keep it simple with just one and transform the look of hoop earrings, chokers, bracelets, phalanx and toe rings. The Apapa collection for this winter features African influences, with engraving and black spinel stones.
